No.3 Colorado Mesa Takes First Doubleheader Against Mines
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.-No. 3 Colorado Mesa (39-7, 33-3 RMAC) def. the Colorado School of Mines (21-23, 16-18 RMAC), 16-3 and 7-0 in a Friday doubleheader at Suplizio Field.
Senior Nolan Snell (7-1) picked up the win on the mound for Colorado Mesa. Snell went six innings and allowed just one unearned run on four hits, walked two, and struck out six. The win moved Snell into a first place tie in Maverick history for wins in a career.
In the nightcap, Matt Williams (7-1) didnt allow a baserunner until the fifth inning and allowed just two hits, while walking one and striking out eight.
Colton Little and Kevin Mitchell each hit homeruns for the Mavericks. Mitchell hit his team-leading eighth homerun of the season while Little hit his fourth of the year.
Second baseman Braden Box finished the game 2-for-3 with two runs driven in.
The two teams will conclude their regular seasons tomorrow with a doubleheader beginning at 1:00pm from Suplizio Field.
