by Claire Brandon

PARACHUTE, Colo.--No. 6 Grand Valley improved to 6-1 on the season after a 41-20 victory over Basalt Friday night at Grand Valley High School.

The Cardinals took a 12-0 halftime lead, but the Longhorns came out of the gates with a touchdown on the opening drive of the second half.

After forcing a fumble, Basalt scored their second touchdown within 12 seconds to take a 13-12 lead; however, Grand Valley came back to get the win.

The Cardinals, looking to advance to the playoffs for the first time since 2008, will travel to Aspen next week for their second-to-last game of the regular season.
