No. 1 Rifle Stays On Top Against No. 6 Conifer

RIFLE, Colo.--Rifle, the top-ranked team in Class 3A, stayed undefeated with a 38-7 victory over No. 6 Conifer Friday at Rifle High School.

The Bears improve to 7-0 on the season and are now outscoring their opponents 304-22.

Rifle got on the board with a 29-yard touchdown run by Kellin Leigh, but the Lobos tied it up at seven in the final 28 seconds of the first quarter.

Aaron Wagler scored on an 81-yard kickoff return to regain the lead, and the Bears didn't look back as they shut out Conifer the rest of the game. Ryan Moeller scored two touchdowns to tally 24 on the season.

Next up, Rifle will host Steamboat Springs (3-4, 2-4) Oct. 19 at 7 p.m.
