Mavericks Back to Practice After Road Win Over Western New Mexico State

by Josh Moser

GRAND JUNCTION, colo.-The Colorado Mesa Mavericks (2-4, 2-2 RMAC) returned to full-padded practice Tuesday in preparation for Saturday's home contest against Fort Lewis College (0-5, 0-4 RMAC).

CMU was led by So. Runningback, Jake Chimalino on Saturday. The Fort Bragg native rushed for more than 100 yards and two touchdowns.

Jason Haferman will remain the starting quarterback according to Head Coach Russ Martin, while Deke Cisco could see time at receiver.

The Mavs will be without Jr. Wideout Nate Neville for four to six weeks due to torn ligaments in his right shoulder.

"That was a very good football team," said Martin. "Western New Mexico had just come off of playing Pueblo (No. 2 in the country) to a touchdown ... they had us 14-7 at the half.... and in the second half our guys just answered the bell."

Saturaday's game will kick off at 6pm following a high school match-up between Durango and Central.
