by KREX News Room

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.--Fourth-seeded Fruita Monument edged out fifth-seeded Loveland, 71-67, Friday night in the second round of the Class 5A playoffs.

With the win, the Lady Wildcats advance to face top-seeded Arapahoe in the Sweet 16 on March 5th.

Fruita opened on an 11-0 run to jump out to a 22-5 lead after the first quarter, however, the Indians managed to make things interesting in the fourth quarter.

It was a one-point game in the final minute, however, Samantha Parks made four free throws down the stretch to put the game out of reach for Loveland.

Meanwhile Grand Junction girls fell to Rock Canyon, 48-40.

On the 4A level, Montrose took down Pueblo East, 67-26, while Delta defeated Longmont, 51-37.

Glenwood Springs fell to top-seeded D'Evlyn, 47-44, but the big surprise was Rifle upsetting No. 3 Palmer Ridge, 31-25.

The Bears and Indians will face each other Saturday at 1 p.m. for the right to advance to the state quarterfinals.

On the boys side, Montrose lost to second-seeded Broomfield, 72-26.
