Grand Junction Rockies Open Inaugural Winter Camp

by Josh Moser

GRAND JUNCTION, colo.-The Grand Junction Rockies opened their winter camp Friday morning welcoming in close to 100 campers with all proceedings going to benefit Colorado Mesa's baseball program.

Colorado Rockies third-baseman Jordan Pacheco headlined the day's activities helping instruct players ages nine-twenty-three.

Grand Junction Rockies Manager Tony Diaz was also an instructor reflecting back on this past season's playoff performance in the inaugural year of the Rockies on the Western Slope.

"The fact that we combined great players--talented players that are also really good kids," said Diaz. "When you couple those two together it's a very successful formula."

The camp will continue through Sunday with the players taking to the batting cage, after focusing on defense and pitching on Friday.
