Grand Junction Defeats Montrose on the Mat

by KREX News Room

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.--No. 1 Jacob Trujillo (145 lbs.) pinned Joe Sandoval (152 lbs.) to move to 17-0 with 17 falls, as Grand Junction defeated Montrose, 54-24, Wednesday night at Grand Junction High School.

"They know how good he is," head coach Cole Allison said. "When they ball up on Jacob, you're just going to try and score points. Take them down, let them up, take them down, let them up. Eventually he just gets to the point where he breaks them, and they quit having the will to fight."

The sophomore is the top-ranked 145-pound wrestler in Class 5A and is the defending state runner-up at 120 pounds.
