Fruita Monument Captures Third Consecutive SWL Title

Grand Junction-Fruita Monument surged from six points down in the fourth quarter to defeat Montrose High School, 55-52, Friday night to capture their third consecutive Southwestern League Title.

Drew Bridges led the way for the Wildcats, with a career high 37 points.

Bridges had 19 in the first half alone, helping his team take a one point edge, 35-35 into recess.

The third quarter belonged to Nathan Hawley of Montrose, where he was dominant on the offensive boards.

However, Fruita turned up the defense in the final three minutes of the fourth, which allowed them to hang on for the win.
