Colorado Mesa Up To School-Record No. 4 In National Polls

GRAND JUNCTION, colo- Colorado Mesa University (15-0, 11-0 RMAC) is ranked No. 4 in the latest USA Today/WBCA Division II Coaches' Poll released Tuesday. It is the highest ranking in school history for the women's program, moving up three spots from the No. 7 ranking a week ago. Last week the Mavericks tied a previous school ranking of No. 7 with the 2002 team.

CMU's 15-0 start is the best in school history, breaking the previous season-opening mark of 11-0 in 1988-1999.

CMU remains the only Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference team to crack the Top 25 poll and is one of four teams undefeated in the top four.

Ashland University remains in the No. 1 spot at 19-0 overall, receiving 800 total points. Bentley University (Mass) is No. 2 with a 15-0 overall record and 765 points. Clayton University (Ga.) moved up one spot with a 16-0 mark and 738 poll points. CMU sits at 15-0 with 674 total points. Western Washington University rounds out the Top 5 with a 13-2 overall record and 627 points.

CMU improved their record to 15-0, 11-0 in RMAC play with a decisive victory over Western State Colorado University 70-45 on Saturday night in Brownson Arena.

The Mavericks will put their undefeated record on the line this Friday night as they host Metro State in Brownson Arena at 5:30 p.m. The Roadrunners are 11-5 overall and sit in second place in the RMAC at 9-2.
