CMU Women's Hoops Enters USA Today Poll at No. 25

GRAND JUNCTION, colo.- Colorado Mesa University women's basketball team is ranked No. 25 in the USA Today/WBCA Division II Coaches' Poll released Tuesday.

CMU is 6-0 overall (2-0 RMAC) and the only Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference team ranked in the Top 25 poll.

Head Coach Taylor Wagner is in his first year at the helm of the women's program, guiding the Mavericks to a perfect 6-0 start. CMU has been receiving points the past two weeks in the national poll and cracked the Top 25 poll this week with 74 total points.

CMU opened the season on the road at the Dixie State Classic with a win over nationally ranked Simon Fraser 62-45. The Mavericks beat Montana State Billings 69-47 to start the year 2-0. Simon Fraser is ranked #12 in the poll, at 8-1 overall, with their only loss coming at the hands of the Mavericks.

The Mavs improved to 4-0 with home victories at the Clarion Inn Thanksgiving Classic over Hillsdale Baptist and Mid-America Christian.

CMU opened RMAC action on the road last weekend with convincing wins over Chadron State (87-43) and Black Hills State (77-48) to push their record to 6-0 to start the year.

The Mavericks are averaging 78.3 points per game and hold a scoring margin of +33.2 points over their opponents.

CMU will host Western New Mexico and New Mexico Highlands this Friday and Saturday at Brownson Arena. Tip-off time is set for 5:30 p.m.
