Big Second Half Leads to a 11-7 Win

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.--The Colorado Mesa University Men's Lacrosse team had their home opener today at Walker Field against the Colorado College Tigers.

The Mavericks came from behind in the first half to pick up an 11-7 win. Colorado Mesa improved their record to 1-1 on the season while the Tigers suffered their first defeat and are 2-1 on the season.

After being tied at halftime 3-3, the Mavericks came out of the break and scored five goals in the third period and three goals in the fourth while Colorado College could only muster two goals in each of the final two periods.

Steve Brandenburg lead the way for the Mavericks recording a hat trick while scooping up two groundballs. Kade Robinson added two goals on the offensive side of the field.

Josh Russell and Michael Beimford led the way defensively picking up six groundballs a piece.

Zach Weaver earned the win making 16 saves in net.

The Mavericks will hit the road for a pair of games in North Carolina starting on March 7. Colorado Mesa will face the Pfeiffer Falcons and Queens College on the two game road trip.
