"Smart" Health Program Brings Innovation Award for Health Care Group

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - A health care network is receiving a prestigious award for technology that greatly benefits the Grand Valley.

Quality Health Network, a health IT company, will be one of six national groups honored with the Healthcare Informatics Innovator Award for an analytical tool called Archimedes IndiGO.

After several years of development, the company introduced Archimedes to the Western Slope a little more than a year ago. The program tracks patient health based on data collected and assesses risk factors for various items, such as a heart attack.

"I'm just really thrilled that we've been given this award. But I think I'm more proud of the fact that we're able to use these types of technical interventions on the Western Slope to improve the health of our community. I think that's most important and I'm proud of that," Marc Lassaux, chief technical officer for Quality Health Network.

"What we're seeing, is how technology can be used now with health information exchange. It's available through Quality Health Network to make information more accessible to physicians as they're working to support you and your care," added Patrick Gordon, associate vice president for Rocky Mountain Health Plans.

Archimedes also offers solutions that increase a person's health outlook. For example, it will project ways a person may decrease their chances of a heart attack, by taking aspirin or exercising more.

Rather than just hearing recommendations from a doctor, the program gives patients a visual understanding of our to better care for themselves by seeing the direct results of their habits.

There is no additional cost for the program. It is readily available in many doctor's offices across the Western Slope.

Everybody line up for the subcutaneous GPS transceivers so the activity level can be tracked to report to the HHS (Horribly Hideous Socialists) to determine if one is eligible for Obummercare or needs to be culled.
