GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- A woman was trapped in her car on Monday, after colliding with another vehicle in a busy Grand Junction intersection.

Around 10 a.m., authorities arrived at 12th Street and North Avenue in Grand Junction for a two car accident.

According to authorities, 19-year-old Marshall Grimsley was driving a silver sedan east bound on North Avenue and ran a red light at 12th street, crashing into a white SUV.

At impact, the white SUV rolled onto its side, trapping a female driver inside.

“The driver in the passenger car was not injured and he was ticketed for running the red light,” said Kate Porras of the Grand Junction Police Department. “The driver in the SUV had to be extracted from the fire department to get her out of the car and they are going to take her to Saint Mary’s Hospital.”

Officers say injuries didn't appear to be serious at the scene.

At the time, 12th street south bound was completely, and there was a heavy build up of traffic around the crash.

All lanes have since reopened.
