CLIFTON, Colo.- A woman is in serious condition after she was hit by a vehicle sending her to the hospital Monday night.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, around 11:30 p.m. Monday, Jackie Dvorak, 30, was struck by an SUV near Clifton Elementary School.

CSP says Dvorak was walking in an unlit area when the vehicle struck her.

She was sent to St. Mary's Hospital and is in serious condition.

CSP is still investigating whether or not alcohol or drugs were involved.

Authorities have not released if the driver, Christy Halladay, 42, will be cited since Dvorak was not in a crosswalk at the time.

Residents of Mesa County are very poor at "situational awareness". Most drift along, fat, dumb and happy about their own concerns ignoring the people around them. This leads to stupid accidents like this.
