GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- A woman facing accusations in what a Mesa County Sheriff Deputy said is the worst child abuse case he's ever seen, is sentenced in court Tuesday morning.
Dianeth Pittman, 41, appeared in front of a judge at the Mesa County Justice Center for a plea and sentencing hearing.
Pittman pleaded guilty to child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury, a class 3 felony, and a crime of violence.
In a plea deal, Pittman has been sentenced to 20 years in prison with five years of parole.
Pittman will get credit for 702 days already spent behind bars and all other charges have been dismissed.
Pittman was arrested in May 2011 after the Mesa County Sheriff's office received reports of suspicious bruising to a 9-year-old child's body.
An investigation led them to Pittman, who blamed the injuries on a four-year -old girl she was babysitting.
The injured child told authorities that Pittman slammed her to the floor, jerked her up by the arms, and slammed her face against a wall multiple times.
Authorities also found burn marks on the child's stomach.
