DENVER (AP)- A 38-year-old woman is facing kidnapping charges after a 2-year-old Colorado Springs girl was reported missing and later found safe.

Tonia Shetina is in custody after a tip led investigators to a home in nearby Fountain where 2-year-old Essence Lovato was found safe.

The infant had been missing for a day and a half.

She was last seen with Shetina who had permission to take the girl to her grandfather's house.

The girl never showed up and police issued a statewide alert.
