GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - A Grand Junction woman was arrested for allegedly having sex with her son's underage friend multiple times.

Wendy Crowell, 36, was arrested and booked into the Mesa County Jail on Friday.

According to an arrest affidavit provided by the Grand Junction Police Department, the incidents began in June 2012. Documents show that Crowell was turned in by the victim's mother, who went through his cell phone and found several text messages between the two.

Police say the boy admitted to having sex with Crowell at least five times; he called it a consensual relationship.

According to the affidavit, Crowell and the victim even said they loved each other.

Crowell denies having a sexual relationship with her son's friend. She is facing multiple charges of sexual assault on a child. Her bond is set at $10,000.

Note that his mother probably pressed the issue and it is known to be against the law. I think the policy and laws in place are sound on the matter of the same legal standard for men and women having sexual relationships with minors. The law isn't to punish for causing harm, but to prevent it. Is impregnating a cougar a badge of honor in your trailer park? It would definitely change the kid's life and it is assumed (and likely) he has less of an understanding of that than his adult partner. Subjective enforcement of laws only would lead to more complications. I know someone who got prison time for having sex with a 16 y/o when he was 18 in high school. In his state there is an exception for minors over 16 as long as the older partner is younger than 24 (I think), so no one thought it was an issue... until her parents got mad at him and pressed charges. Subjective enforcement at its finest.

Its deeper then that, you are only reading what the news says & he is not the only one involved & there was also underage drinking & driving, ect. that crowell allowed. Sure hes 15 I get it from a mans point of view, but what is not exceptable to me is that she is a parent & should be setting a good example & have some morals.(did she not stop to think how this could effect her own son or younger daughters, her husband & not to mention step daughters who might be looking up to her & watching her actions) I persanaly know crowell & feel that they should give her the max sentence, she has it coming, you make your bed, you lay in it.

Some will say it's a double standard -- if it had been a young girl and an older male, it'd be treated differently. But, yeah, double-standard because two sexes are not the same. The kid is not traumatized unless he contracted a disease.

Back in my day that was a badge of honor having sex with an older women!!!! This prosecution is a waste of time!!!

Who cares? By his own admission it was consensual. Not worth the time or money to prosecute.
