MESA COUNTY, Colo.- A welfare fraud case totaling more than $38,000 has made its way to the Mesa County District Attorney's Office.

The Mesa County Sheriff's Office arrested 34-year-old April Dawn Creasman for suspected welfare fraud they say happened between January 2008 and April 2012.

Investigators say they uncovered enough evidence to allege Creasman unlawfully accepted $36,362 in food assistance benefits, $1,321.74 in Medicaid benefits and $834 in temporary assistance and family needs. Creasman has eight children.

She is facing felony theft and forgery charges.

Her court hearing is set for Dec. 4.

There are a few bits of misinformation in the story, first and foremost that she was not arrested, but turned herself in upon finding out through a letter from the benefits office that she had a warrant out. She turned herself in and was even advised what day would be best to turn herself in upon calling the department to find out what she should do. I would say we should wait to find out the facts before we make judgements.

Why? The Peoples Republic of Mesa County has stolen millions, if not billions of dollars and nobody asks about that.
