CORTEZ, Colo.- Crews are working to contain a fire that's threatening roughly 100 homes in Montezuma County.

Authorities say the Roatcap Fire spread from a trash burn on private land and is just under 400 acres.

It's burning near County 29 and County Road P and is said to be heading northeast.

Ground and air crews have been requested to help fight the blaze, although it's unclear how many resources will be available to assist.

Some resources are already being used to fight the Wetmore Fire in Custer County.

Officials say high winds are acting as fuel for the fire, and 30 homes have been evacuated.
