Wildfire at Rocky Mountain National Park Prompts Evacuations

by KREX News Room

ESTES PARK, Colo.- A wildfire burning near the Rocky Mountain National Park has prompted evacuations of a nearby campground, along with backcountry campsites and trails in the area.

The fire has burned about 300 acres and is two miles west of the Fern Lake trailhead.

Park officials say it's burning to the north in steep, rough terrain.

Cloudy conditions Tuesday kept crews from fighting the flames from above; they monitored the flames overnight.

No structures are currently threatened.
