DENVER, - Lawmakers are listening to some of the people affected by the Lower North Fork fire that killed three people, southwest of Denver.

The lawmakers toured the burn area Monday, where two dozen homes were destroyed, causing $11 million in property damage.

Lawmakers also heard from Conifer residents, some of whom are seeking accountability.

A five-member commission created by the Legislature this year is reviewing the events surrounding the Lower North Fork fire that grew out of a prescribed burn on state forest land.

The legislative panel may recommend how the state can improve its response to future blazes.
