DENVER - If you're planning on hitting the roads or skies to travel for Turkey Day, be prepared because more people are doing it this year.

According to TripAdvisor, out of 1,500 people polled, 35 percent said they're going to travel this Thanksgiving. That is up from 34 percent last year.

This year, more people are taking to the skies to get to their destinations but more than half of the people polled still plan to drive.

Travelers are leaving on certain days too. Most will be traveling on Thanksgiving Day at 31 percent and 28 percent said they'll be traveling the day before.

Meanwhile, 19 percent wanted a big head start with plans to travel earlier than Monday.

Half of the travelers will be heading home on Sunday, however 70 percent will try to drive during off peak hours to avoid the worst holiday traffic.
