Western Slope Delegates Prepare for the Democratic National Convention

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- As this year's Republican National Convention ends the Democrats are getting ready for their turn.

Two local women beat out dozens of others for delegate seats and they are on their way to the Democratic National Convention.

NewsChannel 5 met exclusively with Jayne Bilberry of Montrose and Mary Beth Pyle of Grand Junction before they left for North Carolina Saturday morning.

Pyle and Bilberry are from the 3rd Congressional District picked to go to the DNC, and the only two representing the Grand Valley.

"I'm here to let people know that there is another political party on the Western Slope," said Bilberry, who is also chair of the Montrose County Democratic Party.

After the RNC wrapped up on Thursday, the two have high hopes going into the DNC.

"I hope at our convention, we correct some of the things that some of their candidates said as they spoke," said Pyle.

"I think it'll be a little more colorful, the Democrats are an inclusive and diverse party so I think there will be a little more flavor," said Bilberry.

Although they say they feel there is a strong conservative presence in Mesa County, the two remain optimistic for their party.

"We may not win Mesa County but our votes are important for the state of Colorado because we really need to win Colorado," said Pyle.

It's nice that you are enjoying other people's money, Helen. It would be better if you just had a real job. That's hard, especially since the people on the government payroll are doing everything they can to destroy business. "...all enemies, foreign and DOMESTIC..."

I read an article that reported that China will no longer loan the US any money, so those who still have a retirement or savings, watch out. The dems found there is a few trillion dollars in those accounts in this country, now we know what they will be looking to take next.

I agree with Please & tater. I heard something today that I had not heard previously. "His is a plant for Russia. His father trained him to be a plant for Russia." We are already seeing the relutlts of his OBAMA CARE. A friend went to the hospital a week ago with chest pain. She was released the next day with no new meds & not referal for follow up. She was told one thing in the hospiotal & her son wasl told another story. Blood clots require blood thinner treatment. Occlusions requrie another type of treatment. She was sent home with neither. 1st appointment family could obtain with a Cariologist is not until September 12.

Agree with please & tater. Heard another thought to day which I hadn't not heard previously. "He is a plant of Russia. As a senior, I am already seeing the problems with Oboma care. Friend went to hospital a week ago, was there over night due to chest pain. Sent home the next day with no new meds & now appointments or referal for follow up. that is not standard medical care.

Go to the convention and STAY THERE!!! If you like European Socialism, go to Europe. If you want to live in the third world, stay here and support Obama. He'll turn Colorado into a 3rd world toilet, just like his father did to Kenya.

Know you are not alone! We support you and we support our President. And, by the way, I AM much better off than I was four years ago when I had been unemployed for over a year when my company was bought out by Bain Capitol.
