GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- One local advocacy group celebrated an important milestone Friday.

The Western Slope Center for Children was established in 1997. On Friday they marked 15 years of serving child victims of abuse in Mesa County.

"Today we're celebrating all the people who have been a part of the establishment of the center. People who, past and present, have served as board members and professionals who work on all of these cases. It's a collaboration because together we can do more than we can independently," said Shari Zen from the Western Slope Center for Children.

Center officials say over the years, advancements in technology and the privacy they can provide to victims have helped them better serve the community.
