GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- There was a lot of pink around the Western Colorado Botanical Gardens Saturday.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the Junior Service League of Grand Junction held its annual Walk 4 Life event Saturday morning.

Hundreds of supporters and survivors showed up to walk three miles to show their support for finding a cure for the disease that affects 1 in 8 women.

All the money raised Saturday will stay in Mesa County for mammogram services.

"We've had breast cancer touch our family a couple of times, and I'm a former member of the Junior Service League. I like to come out and support the event and be a part of it," said Sarah Menge.

"Just keep fighting, it's the hope and the courage," said Ramona Blee, a breast cancer survivor.

At the end of the walk, participants were met with prizes, music and giveaways.

The funds will go to Walk 4 Life mammography screening exams for low-income and uninsured individuals.
