Walk 4 Life 5k Receives More Donations Than Expected

GRAND JUNCTION,Colo. October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and community members expressed their support at the Mesa Mall for Walk 4 Life, on Saturday.
This is the first time Walk 4 Life was held at the Mesa Mall.
Originally, City Market grocery store was supposed to donate $5,000 to the event. However, they were able to surpass that about by donating $25,000.
Many survivors say the key to survival is to get an early detection diagnosis.
Deborah Uren and her daughter Carly Uren says early detection is the reason she is alive today.
"I feel like she's so strong and I'm so happy to be supporting her every year. It means so much that she's here with me today,” said Carly Uren.
Deborah replied, "You're going to make me cry. It's all great, I just love being here and want to be a part of her life for a long time and I wouldn't be here if it weren't for treatment and early detection of breast cancer.”
Organizers say more than 300 people registered for this years Walk 4 Life 5k.
