Waldo Canyon Fire Burglars Sentenced in Court

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Hundreds of homeowners fled their homes during the devastating Waldo Canyon fire, but two people went towards those homes - to steal.
Two burglars convicted of looting the home of fire evacuees have been sentenced to lengthy prison terms.
Shane Garrett was sentenced to 48 years in prison, and Belinda Wells-Yates was sentenced to 72 years in prison during separate hearings Wednesday.
According to the Colorado Springs Gazette, both were convicted of second-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit second-degree burglary, theft and identity theft.
Prosecutors say electronics, musical equipment, jewelry, a checkbook and keys to a warehouse were taken from a home evacuated during the fire.
The Waldo Canyon fire killed two people and destroyed or damaged 359 homes last year.
