Officials Keep Voluntary Fishing Ban in Steamboat Springs

by KREX News Room
by Associated Press

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo.- Despite Steamboat Springs having its fifth wettest July on record, wildlife officials are still asking people not to fish in the Yampa River.

The voluntary ban started June 20 because fish were stressed by low flows and warm water.

According to Steamboat Today, officials want to consult with reservoir managers upstream about their plans to release water into the river, as well
as see one straight week of improved oxygen levels and favorable weather before thinking of lifting the ban.
