MESA COUNTY, Colo. - A vehicle-pedestrian accident left one man dead Tuesday evening.

Colorado State Patrol released the names of the two men involved in the accident that happened just before six Tuesday night on Broadway/Hwy. 340 and Greenwood Drive, just outside Grand Junction city limits.

John Timony, 68, was attempting to cross the street from the north to the south side of the road when an eastbound-traveling Chevrolet Uplander, driven by Harold Grosse, 73, struck Timony.

CSP officials say Timony was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of his injuries.

The accident is still under investigation, but officials do not suspect foul play.

"At this time, we do not believe that alcohol or drugs played a factor on the part of the driver, nor do we believe that speed was a factor. However, it is preliminary and the investigation is ongoing," said Sgt. Justin Mitchell with Colorado State Patrol at the scene of the accident.

Officials said Wednesday that alcohol or drugs may play a factor for the pedestrian, who was not in a crosswalk during the incident.
