Van Gundy's Now Solar Powered

Cutting Their Energy Bill by a Third

by KREX News Room

Thousands of watts of green energy is now pulsating through a local scrap yard saving them big bucks on their Excel Energy bill. The new solar installation went online on Friday over at Van Gundy's Recycling Center in Grand Junction.

Hundreds of solar panels now line the roofs of several buildings at that business, powering everything from heaters to recycling compressors.

Van Gundy's employees say the project will cut their energy bill in a third and pay for itself in a couple of years.

Atlasta Solar installed the project and says there are lots of reasons to going green right now, especially government rebates for solar projects.
