Updates on Wolf, Divide Fires

MOFFAT COUNTY, Colo.- Lightning sparked two wildfires on Friday, just miles from one another.

The Wolf Fire has grown to 4,200 acres. The blaze was reported five miles south of Elk Springs off Highway 40.

Fire officials estimate flames to be at 10 percent containment.

About 130 fire personnel are on scene, but access to water has been a challenge; helicopter crews are dipping into the nearby White River for aid.

Moffat County officials say oil and gas facilities in the area are in danger, as is critical wildlife habitat.

Just five miles south of the Wolf Fire, the Divide Fire is at 250 acres with 50 percent containment.

That wildfire has a 20-person air and ground crew securing the fire perimeter.
