by Christina Marrazza

DENVER- The first of the presidential debates is a week away and it's happening right here in Colorado.

The debate is happening Oct. 3 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the University of Denver.

This is the first time a presidential debate has been held in Colorado.

DU is already preparing for the big day; they've sent out letters to people who live in the area reminding them to be prepared for large crowds, intense security and road and building closures throughout the campus.

No classes will be held the day of the debate.

A six-mile stretch of Interstate 25 will be closed in both directions during the night of the debate.
