GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Every year, donors to United Way of Mesa County give hundreds of thousands of dollars to local nonprofit organizations.
These donations feed the hungry, clothe the poor and provide a roof over thousands of heads.
Tuesday night, those donors got to see exactly where their money is going during a gala presenting a sneak peak of the organization's funding decisions for the upcoming fiscal year.
This past year, more than $1 million was raised to fund 52 Grand Valley programs.
The donations were allocated to five categories: Promoting Health, Self-Sufficiency, Basic Needs, Building Strong Families and Youth Services.
The event also celebrated United Way's 125th anniversary; the organization was founded in Denver.
