Unique “E-Waste” Art Contest Deadline Approaching
KREX News Room
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- The deadline for how you can help increase e-waste awareness is approaching.
E-Waste Recyclers of Colorado and Mesa County Solid Waste have partnered up to help educated the community on this issue.
They’re inviting folks to use art to demonstrate the importance of protecting your data and the environment by recycling electronics and keeping them out of the landfill.
Officials say only 19 percent of electronics are recycled in America.
“If we don't its going to ruin our children’s future,” said Ken Burns, CEO of E-Waste Recyclers of Colorado. “I mean, that's the biggest thing. There is led, there's a lot of hazardous chemicals and it’s going to create more and more problems for the environment and put led in our water systems.”
The deadline to pick up your supplies is this Wednesday and all submissions are due on April 17th.
The artwork will then be displayed on April 20th and again at the Southwest Arbor Festival.
Residents are invited to make an appointment to pick up the supplies at E-Waste Recyclers of Colorado. They are located at 1027 S. 7th street in Grand Junction.
