WASHINGTON- Despite criticism from Republican lawmakers, Colorado Sen. Mark Udall announces his support for Sen. Chuck Hagel becoming the next Secretary of Defense.

"Sen. Hagel showed me today and throughout his confirmation process that he understands the issues facing the U.S. military, and the he agrees we need to pursue a smart, but tough national security policy. I believe he will stand with Israel and our allies, take every necessary step to prevent a nuclear Iran, treat all service members equally regardless of their sexual orientation and strengthen our cybersecurity," Udall stated. "Without question, Chuck Hagel will bring his remarkable experience as both a combat veteran and an outspoken Senate leader to the Pentagon. I intend to support Sen. Hagel's confirmation as our country's next Secretary of Defense."

It is obamas policys in Afganistan that is allowing the taliban to regroup and come back up to strength again. It is also obamas policys that is taking the lives of American troops through suicide. Hagen, will do no better.

Without actually serving in combat, war is abstract concept too horrible to comprehend. Even John McCain’s as a navy pilot flying far above the fray pales in comparison to Chuck Hagel’s experience as an infantry squad leader in Vietnam. Warmongers like Cheney who got several deferments during the Vietnam War never served in actual combat. Chuck Hagel has shown his bravery in combat in Vietnam & also in the political arena. We need a brave leader to stand up against the powerful political lobbies like AIPAC. War should be the last resort of any country. It not only cost in blood & treasure, but continual war throughout history leads to collapse of empire. The U.S. is an empire of military bases around the world. Our current path will lead will bankrupt our country & collapse our country from within.

It says something when his own party doesn't support the guy. It says; obama will do anything that isn't good for the American people. Just like picking hilary clinton.

Hagel is the least qualified person I can think of for Sec. of Defense. They called him a decorated war veteran, has anyone read how he was wounded in Viet Nam?

Of course he will. That's what he has been told to do. It's the Party first and then the people a distant second.

Sen Udall? Didn't he vote yes on the job-killing travesty known as Obummercare that was passed by democrat cowards under cover of darkness and holiday on Christmas Even, 2009?
