Colorado Added to USDA Pilot Program

by KREX News Room
by Kristina Kuestner

WASHINGTON- Colorado and 14 other states have been added to a USDA pilot program will help more rural borrowers refinance their mortgages.

The program enables current USDA borrowers to save money on housing costs by refinancing their mortgages with historically low interest rates.

USDA unveiled the program a year ago with 19 states.

The new states were added because they had counties with a poverty rate of at least 20 percent in each of the last four U.S. Censuses.

The performance of the pilot will be reviewed after two years.
