GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Police have arrested two people suspected of being involved in an incident that left a Grand Junction man hospitalized with severe injuries.
Earlier this week, 58-year-old John Hage was found on the side of the road near 5th Street and Chipeta Avenue with serious injuries.
Originally, police had very few clues as to what happened to Hage. But investigators got a break in the case when they were able to track down a person who was was in possession of Hage's mobile phone.
A series of interviews led to the arrests of 34-year-old Christopher Allen Jompp, who is charged with second-degree assault, and 22-year-old Christina Marie Padilla, who is charged with robbery.
Investigators say they believe Hage and Jompp were acquaintances. Authorities suspect the two were inside a car with Padilla and another woman, when Padilla began beating Hage in the head with his fists, knocking the victim unconscious before taking money and other items.
