Police Arrest 2 Following Shooting Scare Near Park

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- A shooting had authorities chasing down two suspects on Saturday.

The incident happened near Riverside Park off Riverside Parkway and Broadway around 6:30 p.m.

The Grand Junction Police Department says 22-year-old Nicholas Guzman and 20-year-old Marco Gomez were taken into custody after police suspected they fired three to four gunshot rounds.

One or two of those hit a nearby vehicle.

None of the people who were in the park at the time, including several children, were harmed.

According to officials, Guzman and Gomez made several circles in the grass of the park with a vehicle before fleeing the scene through a nearby alley.

The suspects were apprehended shortly after that at North 17th Street and Rood Avenue.

Both suspects have previous felony convictions.

Guzman is facing several charges including possession of weapons by a previous offender, driving under the influence and reckless driving.

Gomez is facing charges including reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, violation of a protection order, criminal impersonation, and possession of weapons by a previous offender.
