Turkey Day Travel Tips

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Numbers for those traveling this Thanksgiving are slightly up compared to last year, despite higher airfares.

A Trip Advisor survey reports that 38 percent of those traveling plan to fly, while 58 percent plan to drive.

The peak travel day is on 'turkey day' and the runner-up is the Wednesday before.

Officials say if you are flying, pack light and try to stick to a carry-on. However, keep in mind other passengers may do the same and overhead space may be tight.

They suggest shipping bulky items like presents ahead of time.

Also, go digital if you can. Save time by checking-in and tracking flight status online.
