Authorities Investigate After Truck Crashes into Tree

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- A man is being questioned by authorities after allegedly running his truck into a tree Saturday afternoon.
Colorado State Patrol Officials say a male in his late 30s, who was driving east on Broadway in a Toyota Tundra, swerved and hit the guard rail before plowing into a tree on the other side of the road.
A woman driving near the man says she noticed the car previously swerving and almost running a stop sign. She says the driver came close to hitting a bicyclist, so she called police.
"I was following two cars behind and I could see that he was driving erratically. By the time I got to desert hills road, I decided that I better call the police to report him, because, perhaps he was drinking. That's how it appeared to me. Right when I was calling, I suppose that's when the accident happened," said Janet Abbott, a witness.
Officials say the driver was up talking and walking but uncooperative. A full investigation is underway.
Westbound lanes of traffic on Broadway were closed during accident cleanup but have since been reopened.
