GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- A longstanding Grand Junction-based skate and snowboard shop is closing its doors.
Traz Snow and Skate Shop is closing after 19 years of business.
The store is located off of Highway 6&50 in the Grand Mesa Shopping Center.
The owner, Tom Levalley, says they can't afford to stay open any longer.
Levalley says their best period was 2006 to 2008, and once the economy sunk, so did their business. They said they never could make a comeback.
"A lot of our vendors that sold exclusively to specialty stores like ours are now selling out to big box stores. Merchandise that used to be exclusive to this type of industry is now everywhere and people have just kind of forgotten about us. We just can't generate enough income to stay in business anymore," said Levalley.
The store says they were also impacted when many of their products became available online.
The store will be open until they sell all of their inventory, which is on clearnace for 30 to 70 percent off.
