Hay Fire Burns in Clifton

MESA COUNTY, Colo.- It was a close call for residents living off 35 Road near Mount Garfield Middle School when a hay fire started just a few feet away from their homes.

Clifton fire authorities say large bales of hay caught on fire, but luckily, they worked quickly to make sure it didn't spread.

Authorities and tenders from the Palisade and Grand Junction fire departments were also called in to help.

Smoke could be seen for miles, but officials say they got a pretty good handle on. It took several hours to extinguish it.

No people or animals were injured, and authorities still do not know what caused the fire.
