Testing Ballot Machines Before Elections
KREX News Room
GRAND JUNCTION,Colo. The next coordinated election of 2013 is coming soon, and to prepare, the Mesa County Elections Office conducted a logic and accuracy ballot test on Thursday.
This logic test is held every year to check the accuracy of the ballot counting machines.
Participants filled out a sample ballot and were able to see how accurate the machines are currently working.
The Mesa County Clerk and Recorder says they test each ballot, for every scenario.
"We do a yes vote, a no vote, an over vote, an under vote. You know that kind of things within each race to insure that every oval is being recognized properly,” said Mesa County Clerk and Recorder Sheila Reiner.
Officials also say they have new 24-hour drop boxes around the valley.
There drop boxes will be located at 200 S. Spruce Street, Civic Center in Fruita, and on at the Department of Human Services building at 29 ½ North Avenue.
The ballot drop boxes will be open, starting Monday, October 5th until Tuesday, November 5th.
