GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- The Grand Junction teenager accused of killing his mother's dog pleaded guilty Thursday.

Joseph Nelson pleaded guilty to aggravated cruelty to animals, which is a felony.

Nelson was arrested last November in connection with the death of a Jack Russell terrier mix that was found hanging by a leash from a pedestrian bridge.

Nelson was charged as an adult, although he was 17 years old at the time of the crime.

Other charges against him were dropped.

Sentencing is scheduled for next month.
