GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Dozens of Western Slope eateries showed off their culinary creativity for the Home Loan Taste of the Grand Valley Monday.

The valley's premiere food event took place at Two Rivers Convention Center and featured 30 local restaurants, catering companies and other vendors, all showing off what the local community has to offer.

"This is our favorite event of the entire year. We brought 13 varieties of pie for everyone to try," said Debbie Borden with Village Inn.

"They want to try new things. They want to see what new exhibitors we have, what all is out here," added Amanda Crysler, development director for United Way of Mesa County.

Officials estimate that about 1,200 people attended this year's event. About $25,000 to $30,000 was raised; 100 percent of ticket proceeds go directly to United Way of Mesa County for various outreach programs.

This year's winners:

Best Theme: Main Street Bagels
Best Drink: Colorado Legacy Coffee
Best Dessert: Pattie's Tiny Cakes
Best Taste: The Cowboy and the Rose

Would it be possible to get a listing of those "various outreach programs"? They should proudly trumpet who they are financing, the proud and patriotic of the community! Thanks so much.
