Tanning Bed Bill For Teens Wins Initial Approval

DENVER (AP)- Tanning bed limits for teenagers have won initial approval in the Colorado Legislature.

Thursday's vote by a House Committee came after several doctors and health advocates testified the bill doesn't go far enough.

The bill bans minors under 15 from indoor tanning beds without a doctor's note.

Teens 15 to 18 would need parental permission every six months.

Colorado is one of the few states that don't restrict youth tanning bed use.

The indoor tanning industry calls the limits unnecessary, while health advocates say indoor tanning should be completely off-limits for people under 18.
