Survey: Grand Junction Residents Want Transportation Improvements

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.-New local research shows that what residents want to see improved the most in Grand Junction is transportation.

The survey was brought on by excess revenue from the Taxpayer Bill of Rights, or TABOR.

For several years, the city has been bringing in more money than the TABOR limit.

That money has gone to paying off the Riverside Parkway bonds early.

Now that those bonds are set to be paid off in the next few years, the city wants to know what residents want that money spent on .

The Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce said more than half of the nearly 400 residents who responded favored improvements in roadways over parks, public safety or other items.

The most requested projects are the completion of 29 Road to Interstate 70 and the I-70/29 Road interchange.

Residents also want to widen 24 Road to allow for more traffic to flow to the city's commerce center.

Grand Junction will consider the priority of these projects before the spring election.

In April 2013, TABOR taxes will be up for vote again.

Well I would say that the city of Grand Misfunction spends like drunken sailors, but then that would be a terrible insult to the drunken sailors. Perhaps that Tabor revenue could be used to replace the money grifted from taxpayers to build the Taj Mahal on Ute that was voted no on by the taxpayers no less than three times.
