COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP)- Colorado Springs health officials are investigating after students at a high school in Colorado Springs found bugs in their school lunch.

Students say they were eating lunch Wednesday when they saw the bugs in their soup.

School district spokeswoman Christine Lyle says the El Paso County Health Department was called in and determined the bugs were either meal worms or weevils.

The health department believes the incident is isolated to a single batch of the soup.

Hard to avoid those things entirely. I've had to toss plenty of Mac and Cheese because of those. No doubt, we eat a lot more of that than we know. It's just gross to see them in your food like that, though.

Was they charged for the extra meat?

As my mom would say, 'What's wrong with a little extra protein?'
