Store Owners Encourage Residents to Shop Local

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- As folks brave the crowds at the Mesa Mall, local shop owners in downtown Grand Junction are encouraging people to spend the Black Friday shopping at their stores as well.

Even though all stores in downtown didn't open up as early as the stores at the mall, the majority of the downtown shops are hosting holiday sales on Friday.

Every year, they encourage people to spend their dollars locally and help out all neighborhood stores.

“Shopping locally keeps the money local and it turns over in the economy,” said Gregg Palmer, owner of Brown Shoe Fit Company. “It helps all of the other local entities that rely on the generosity of merchants who help support other activities in the community.”

"Small Business Saturday" which is sponsored by American Express will happen this Saturday. It's an effort to get people to shop locally and understand that these are the merchants that support local organizations.

The local Community want me to shop local but already they are contemplating a ban on pot shops! You have got to be kidding me, why would I support any local shop in Mesa County and Delta County when they don't support the latest election victory of A-64. As a disabled Veteran I have to drive a hundred miles if I want to buy local marijuana from a dispensary! Mesa County and Delta County spew there BS about how much they care about the troops and vets when in reality these Conservative Counties do everything in there power to squash State law when it come to marijuana and that hurts Vet's that would rather use marijuana instead of big pharma's pills ! I will order on line rather than give these Counties any of my holiday money! You reap what you sow Mesa and Delta Counties!
