MESA COUNTY, Colo.- As the fire danger remains high, tougher fire restrictions continue popping up across the state, and now some areas on the Western Slope are implementing stricter rules.

Starting Friday, the Northwest Colorado District of the Bureau of Land Management, the White River National Forest and the Colorado National Monument will all institute Stage 2 fire restrictions.

The new restrictions will prohibit the use of fires or campfires, charcoal grills and coal or wood stoves, even in developed camping and picnic grounds.

The Grand Mesa, Uncompaghre National Forest and Gunnison National Forest will, however, remain under Stage 1 restrictions.
